COVID Tips for the Hospitality Industry

COVID Tips for the Hospitality Industry

It’s no secret that the COVID pandemic presents unique challenges for every industry. When it comes to the hospitality industry, you have a lot to think about: how do you keep your guests safe? How do you keep your many employees safe? How do you give your guests a great stay when you’re forced to shift and adapt the way you’ve always done things?

SOME TIPS FOR THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY IN THE WAKE OF COVID-19:

For guests

Adopt preventative measures for your guests. Create socially distanced events in place of previous plans. Some changes are simple, such as spacing tables 6 feet apart. Implement social distancing and continue to uphold rules to keep everyone safe. Thoroughly sanitize rooms and common areas as often as possible.

Communicate your efforts to your guests. Include information about your efforts on your website, social media accounts, and anywhere else you’re advertising. Be prepared for questions and concerns, and don’t shy away from answering them thoroughly.

For your staff

Adopt preventative measures for your staff. Continue to follow CDC guidance for safety, cleanliness, hand-washing protocols, and social distance. Establish a pre-shift questionnaire and remind your employees to stay home if they have any symptoms of COVID-19.

Train your staff. Guests will have questions and concerns. Ensure all of your employees have been fully trained on how to interact with guests during this time. Give them proper answers to frequently asked questions and give them access to whom they should turn the conversation over to if they’re unable to fully answer.

For your business

Stay informed. Monitor reliable sources for information and follow CDC guidance. Appoint an internal information specialist to follow guidelines and help with messaging. This will ensure you’re as ahead of the game as possible.

Have a contingency plan. Create a business plan for this new normal. Consider provisions for additional changes as we move through the winter months.
